    Identifying best practices for customer satisfaction in an Indian restaurant

    Customer satisfaction is a theoretical idea that involves various factors such as the quality of the product, the quality of the service provided, the atmosphere of the location where the customer purchased product or service, as well as the price of the product or service. In other words, customer satisfaction is a measurement that helps us to know about the expectation of the customers. Therefore, it is not easy to measure the actual level of customer satisfaction. The aim of the study is to find the significant reasons for customer satisfaction and dissatisfaction in Mithaiwala restaurant. The Mithaiwala restaurant is in Frankton, Hamilton, and this restaurant is a part of Mithai Investment Limited Company that is located in Auckland. The store in Auckland provides the stock for the restaurant in Hamilton. The company was incorporated on 12 March 2015 and registered on 27 June 2016. This study examines the internal and external analysis of the restaurant. In this report, the researcher has analysed different factors that have significant impact on customer satisfaction, such as, the quality of product and service, customer satisfaction strategies, and competitive advantages. These factors show how to add value at a low price, reveal marketing channels, provide skill advantages, are socially sound, and indicate the competitive location of the restaurant as well as showing value for money. A competitive analysis has also been completed as part of this report. Quantitative research methodology was used for the research to measure the satisfaction level by undertaking a survey. A questionnaire consisting of 13 questions was distributed. The research result was analysed through pie charts and bar graphs. According to the result, most of the customers were highly satisfied with the price, location, taste of the food and customer service of the restaurant. After analysing the result, the researcher discussed the whole research report and drew conclusions. At the end of the report, the researcher provides some recommendations on the basis of the conclusion to increase the level of customer satisfaction in order to promote expansion and growth of the business

    Literature attains its academic value when assessed through the tools offered by literary theories and tradition of past and present. The very word ‘theories’ may sound abstract and reductive by nature if understood in the postmodern sense but given their technical/academic means and measures accumulated over a period of time based on the philosophical and ideological concepts, they pave a way for identifying the emotional and social conflicts in the changing socio and cultural scenario of the  societies. The present paper focuses on the 20th century Literary theories beginning from Deconstruction associated with Jacques Derrida ranging across Post structuralism, Post colonialism and New Leftist Cultural Theories of Raymond Williams in their attempt to highlight their empowering aspect of dealing with the hierarchical elements of society based on gender, class and ethnicities. The paper finds its relevance in the current globalised, capitalist and consumerist society that tends to ignore the difference or the presence of small voices, as of the marginalized group- be it women Blacks, Asians, Dalits or the poor. The hierarchical structures embedded in the society as human constructs and hegemony as something to be understood and tackled are the main focus of the literary theories discussed in the paper.&nbsp

    Phytochemical mediated modulation of breast cancer resistance protein at the blood brain barrier and blood cerebrospinal fluid barrier

    Drug delivery to the central nervous system (CNS) is significantly hindered by thepresence of the blood brain barrier (BBB) and blood cerebrospinal fluid barrier(BCSFB) and associated drug efflux transporter proteins. The aim of this work was to modulate the expression of breast cancer resistance protein (BCRP) at each barrier site using phytochemical modulators. In-vitro cellular models of both the BBB (PBMEC/C1-2) and BCSFB (Z310) were utilised and 18 phytochemical modulators screened for their cellular toxicity with IC50 values for the majority of phytochemicals being in excess of 100 μM. Intracellular accumulation of H33342 was assessed in each barrier cell line to determine short-term modulation of BCRP efflux or long-term modulation of protein expression. Incubations with modulators demonstrated significant inhibition of BCRP efflux activity for a range of modulators in both cell lines with TMF (1-100 μM) demonstrating a > 6 fold increase in intracellular accumulation.Similarly, many modulators demonstrated proposed protein-level modulation of BCRP resulting in increases or decreases in H33342 accumulation following a 24 hour exposure. Western blotting subsequently confirmed that quercetin and naringin for PBMEC/C1-2 and baiclain and flavone for Z310 induced BCRP expression (to 2-3 fold of control) whereas curcumin and 17-β-estradiol for PBMEC/C1-2 and silymarin, quercetin and 17-β-estradiol for Z310 down-regulated BCRP expression (to 0.24-0.4 fold of control). This was further confirmed in substrate transport studies using permeable insert models which demonstrated functional changes in the permeabilityof BCRP substrates across both barrier models.Subsequently the regulation of BCRP by AhR was confirmed through siRNAknockdown of AhR, which resulted in a significant decrease in BCRP geneexpression in both cell lines. Furthermore the induction/down-regulation effects on BCRP were, in general, diminished following AhR knockdown, suggesting AhR plays an important role in mediating the genomic/proteomic alterations in BCRP expression when exposed to phytochemicals

    Correlation of ultrasound with histopathology for retained products of conception in medically managed abortions

    Background: Medical abortion uses an anti-progestin, mifepristone (RU486), followed by a prostaglandin (misoprostol). Objective of present study was to correlate findings of transvaginal ultrasound with histopathology for retained products of conception in medical abortions.Methods: An observational, prospective study was conducted on hundred women with gestation upto 12 weeks who underwent medical abortion with excessive or prolonged post abortal vaginal bleeding. Transvaginal scan followed by uterine evacuation was done under anesthesia, followed by histopathology.Results: Analysis was done statistically using Pearson Chi- square method. Sixty five percent subjects took MTP pill by unsupervised, self-intake and 35% on prescription. Among women who took misoprostol in dose of 400mcg, 89% had RPOC on histopathology. At the dose of 800 mcg, 73.3% had retained Products of Conception (RPOC) on histopathology. The correlation was found to be statistically non-significant (p value at 5% was 1.13). Ultrasound showed echogenic mass in the uterine cavity in 62 (62%) women, increased endometrial thickness ≥10mm in 13 (13%), gestational sac with no fetal pole in 6 (6%), blood clots in uterine cavity in 6 (6%), and empty uterine cavity in 3 (3%). Seventy five percent of women had histologically proven RPOC at endometrial cut off of equal to or greater than 10mm. The sensitivity, specificity, positive and negative predictive value of transvaginal ultrasonography in detection of retained products of conception were 92%, 60%, 87.3%, 71.4% respectively. The diagnostic accuracy was 84%.Conclusions: Transvaginal ultrasound for detecting retained products of conception in medically managed abortions has a high sensitivity and positive predictive value and is useful for screening women with clinically suspected incomplete abortion who require further intervention -medical or surgical

    A study of maternal near miss cases in tertiary health centre in north India

    Background: Maternal near miss is defined as woman who nearly died but survived a complication that occurred during pregnancy, childbirth or within 42 days of termination of pregnancy.Methods: It was one-and-a-half-year prospective study from April 2016 to September 2017 conducted in the department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Government Medical College, Patiala. The causes of maternal near miss based on WHO 2010 Near Miss criteria were studied.Results: In the present study out of total deliveries of 6166, there were 5461 live births and 123 maternal near miss cases which were included based on WHO 2010 maternal near miss approach. The maternal near miss incidence ratio (MNMR) in present study is 22.5. Literature reports the similar trends and MNMR varies between 15 to 40 per 1000 live births. Maternal near miss to mortality ratio is 1.89:1 in the present study.Conclusions: The most common direct cause for maternal near miss is hemorrhage. Severe preeclampsia is one of the easiest identifiable and avoidable factors for preventing maternal death. Studying near miss in detail allows us proper assessment of opportunities that were missed, analyzing the gaps and patient care related factors and helps to develop an audit system for maternal care

    Phytochemical mediated-modulation of the expression and transporter function of breast cancer resistance protein at the blood-brain barrier:an in-vitro study

    Clinical translation of BCRP inhibitors have failed due to neurotoxicity and novel approaches are required to identify suitable modulators of BCRP to enhance CNS drug delivery. In this study we examine 18 compounds, primarily phytochemicals, as potential novel modulators of AhR-mediated regulation of BCRP expression and function in immortalised and primary porcine brain microvascular endothelial cells as a mechanism to enhance CNS drug delivery. The majority of modulators possessed a cellular viability IC50 > 100 µM in both cell systems. BCRP activity, when exposed to modulators for 1 hour, was diminished for most modulators through significant increases in H33342 accumulation at < 10 µM with 2,6,4-trimethoflavone increasing H33342 intracellular accumulation by 3.7–6.6 fold over 1–100 µM. Western blotting and qPCR identified two inducers of BCRP (quercetin and naringin) and two down-regulators (17-β-estradiol and curcumin) with associated changes in BCRP efflux transport function further confirmed in both cell lines. siRNA downregulation of AhR resulted in a 1.75 ± 0.08 fold change in BCRP expression, confirming the role of AhR in the regulation of BCRP. These findings establish the regulatory role AhR of in controlling BCRP expression at the BBB and confirm quercetin, naringin, 17-β-estradiol, and curcumin as novel inducers and down-regulators of BCRP gene, protein expression and functional transporter activity and hence potential novel target sites and candidates for enhancing CNS drug delivery

    Compressive strength study performed on M35 grade concrete with crumb rubber used as partial replacement of sand

    The disposal of waste tyre is emerging as a major problem for all countries in the world. Waste tyre can neither be dumped nor burnt. Dumping in landfill is not possible as tyre is not an easily biodegradable material. Also burning of such waste releases toxic gases such as carbon monoxide (CO), sulfur oxide(SO2 ), oxides of nitrogen (NOX), and volatile organic compounds in air increasing air pollution. Hence the most effective way of saving environment will be recycling these wastes and reusing it. Also the natural resources such as sand, stone and aggregates are depleting with increasing population and construction. For this reason incorporation of waste rubber in the form of crumb rubber is a perfect alternative to be used in construction industry. This study mainly portrays the use of crumb rubber as a replacement of sand. The mix was designed for M35. The replacement proportions are taken as 0%, 5%, 10%, 15% and 20% of fine aggregate. Further, the reaction of sulphuric acid in the crumb rubber concrete (CRC) has been studied. It has been seen that the compressive strength of the crumb rubber concrete decreases with increase in rubber content. There were slight physical changes seen in the cubes cured in sulphuric acid after a curing period of 56 days. With the experiments performed, it is recommended to use CRC in light weight structures and for non-load bearing structures

    PILOT STUDY OF LOWER UTERINE SEGMENT CESAREAN SCAR THICKNESS PREOPERATIVELY BY TRANSVAGINAL SONOGRAPHY AND ITS CORRELATION WITH INTRA-OPERATIVE FINDINGS

    Objectives: Cesarean section rates are increasing with a decrease in the rate of trial of labor after first cesarean section. Proper assessment of uterus especially scar of the previous lower segment cesarean sections (LSCS) in pregnant females is the key stone for the successful vaginal birth after cesarean section. The objective of this pilot study was to evaluate LSCS scar thickness using transvaginal sonography (TVS) and to determine the correlation between TVS and intraoperatively measured lower uterine segment cesarean scar thickness. Methods: This prospective observational analytic pilot study was carried out jointly by the Departments of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Radiodiagnosis, Government Medical College and Rajindra Hospital, Patiala after due ethical and research committee approval. 100 women at term with history of previous LSCS and who were scheduled for elective LSCS were recruited for the study after taking the informed consent. Pre-operative scar measurement as on TVS was compared with and analyzed with intraoperative (I/o) scar measurements taken by Calipers. Results: The cutoff value for TVS readings was found to be ≤2.5 mm using receiver operating characteristic analysis. It has significant correlation with I/o scar measurements. It also has a significant relationship with age, pre-pregnancy overweight, number of the previous LSCS, and gestational age. Conclusion: Assessment of the scar integrity and quality by TVS will be helpful in selecting candidates for trial of labor with an optimally informed decision but still a number of studies have to be done to develop a robust scoring system
